Ground Is Broken On Belknap Reconstruction Project

Construction Will Wrap Up In 2018

SUPERIOR, Wis. – Superior city officials broke ground Monday on the Belknap Street reconstruction project.

The project will starts west of Banks Avenue and extend east through the Hill Avenue intersection.

During the reconstruction, Belknap will be completely revamped as the roadways, sidewalks, and underground utilities will all be worked on.

“This is critical when we look at enhancing our community,” said David Minor, president of the Douglas County/Superior Chamber of Commerce.

The project is expected to last through the 2018 construction season.

The Belknap Street roadway will be reconstructed in separate construction zones and stages each year.

“The Superior Business Improvement District is so pleased for the reconstruction of Belknap,” said Lindsey Jacobson, BID director, in a prepared statement. “We have seen what an impact it has on North Tower Avenue that we want the same for the businesses on Belknap. Though construction is always tough, we want to remind everyone to be patient, be supportive and shop local as Belknap businesses are open for business.”
