Minnesota Math and Reading Corps Looking for Tutors

The program is looking to hire about 80 tutors to work in participating schools throughout northeast Minnesota

DULUTH, Minn. – Two statewide programs are looking for people interested in tutoring students for next school year.

The Minnesota Math and Reading Corps help students failing to reach basic levels of math and literacy. The program is looking to hire about 80 tutors to work in participating schools throughout northeast Minnesota.

Those interested do not need any prior teaching experience, only a passion and commitment to help children learn.

“Our tutors actually sometimes feel like they get more than what they give the kids,” said Lindsey Molstad, program director for Minnesota Math & Reading Corp’s northeast schools. “So even though the results from the program are extremely successful and were able to see great success with the students, those members really feel a great amount of success and pride in what they’re getting and what they’re taking from the program.”

Right now, the reading and math corps programs are in about 40 schools throughout  northeast Minnesota, from Duluth all the way up to Grand Marais.
