Bridge Maintenance Scheduled in Duluth Area

Crews will be working from April 10-28 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

DULUTH, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation maintenance crews will be performing bridge preventative maintenance by cleaning all state bridge in the Duluth area beginning Monday April 10 through Friday, April 28.

Crews will be working between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Temporary lane closures may take place during this time.

MnDOT crews will be spraying down the bridge decks, expansion joins, and bearings with water to remove salt residue and other debris built up over the winter. Crews will also utilize street sweepers to clean up shoulders and lanes on the bridge deck.

This operation will occur in three phases:

  1. Between Boundary Avenue to 21st Avenue East, northbound and southbound
  2. The Bong Bridge and the Bong Bridge interchange
  3. Blatnik Bridge and “Can of Worms” interchange
