Getting Prepared for Fishing Opener

Local Expert Gives Safety and Fishing Tips

DULUTH, Minn. – Hundreds of Minnesotans will be heading to the lake this weekend, all with the hope of catching a big one.

The Minnesota Fishing Opener is Saturday, May 13.

Russ Francisco, the owner of Marine General, says the most important thing to keep in your boat is a life jacket.

He adds it’s important all child’s life jackets are the right size, so the child does not slide out.

All boats 16 feet and longer are also required to have a fire extinguisher.

As for fishing, Francisco says sharpening your lures is a must so if you hook a big one you’ll be able to reel it in.

Marine General is located at 1501 London Rd, Duluth, MN 55812.
