From Greyhound to Saint, Zwak Stays All Duluth

CSS Freshman Joey Zwak is finding a place on his new team.

DULUTH, MN- Duluth East fans know the name Joey Zwak well but this season St. Scholastica is enjoying the second baseman’s presence on their team.

“I love it in Duluth, I’m happy to stay,” said Zwak.

“We were excited about him coming on board, what we didn’t know is how good the kid could be,” said CSS head coach Corey Kemp.

The transition hasn’t been easy but Zwak has made it look smooth.

“That kid has worked extremely hard to get where he is and he’ s earned that job at being our second baseman and our lead off hitter,” said Kemp.

The Saints are coming off a UMAC tournament win and heading to the NCAA tournament this week. But even after this season, St. Scholastica will have more years with Zwak.

“Every day we’re seeing him do something better so I think the future is very bright for Joey Zwak,” said Kemp.
