Annual Effort to Cleanup the St. Louis River Takes Place this Weekend

SUPERIOR, Wis. – As the weather begins to warm, more and more Northlanders will be out enjoying the beauty of the area.

This weekend a group of people with a passion for the environment will be working to ensure this nature stays that way.

The St. Louis River Alliance is hosting their Annual River Cleanup on Saturday, May 20 from 9:00 a.m. to noon.

Volunteers can show up at the Archery Range in the Superior Municipal Forest.

There will be someone there to indicate a parking area.


Volunteers may sign up for one, two or three hours.

The city of Superior will be providing gloves, bags, buckets and litter pickers and pick up of the garbage.

Drinking water will be provided.

Hip boots are recommended for those who wish to tackle the removal of items from the water near shore.

Interested individuals and organizations may contact the St. Louis River Alliance to find out more about volunteering for this cleanup effort.

Driving directions from Duluth: Take the Bong Bridge to Superior and follow HWY 2 to Elmira Avenue to 42nd St. Parking will be at the Archery Range.
