Temporary Lane Closures on Highway 61 near Esko for Sewer Repair

ESKO, Minn. – One northbound and one southbound lane of Highway 61 near Esko have been closed to allow for the repair of a Western Lake Superior Sanitary District (WLSSD) sewer pipeline.

The pipeline is located in the median of Highway 61 near Sorila Road. Lanes and adjacent road crossings will be closed during the project and is expected to take two to five weeks.

“All wastewater is contained and we don’t expect an interruption is sewer service,” said Marianne Bohren, WLSSD executive director. “We have mobilized contrators to the site to get the repair done as quickly as possible.”

Motorists are advised to slow down and be alert in construction areas. No full road closures are expected. Odor may be noticeable at times during the project.
