Duluth Playhouse Children’s Theatre Director Steps Down After 10 Years

Reception Held to Wish Kate Horvath Well and Say Goodbye

DULUTH, Minn. – A familiar face is leaving the Duluth Playhouse after 10 years.

Kate Horvath has led the Children’s Theatre and ¬†Education Program at the Playhouse for the last decade and is leaving to explore another career opportunity.

Tonight, the Playhouse held a reception for Horvath’s current and former students to send her their best wishes.

“Kate is an amazing inspirational figure,” said Logan Johnsrud, a Children’s Theatre Student. “She has done millions for me. I started from nowhere and now she has taught me how to act, to sing, to dance.”

“She has honestly been such an incredible mentor to me,” said Kalise Deroche. “I’ve known her for years and I genuinely don’t think I would be the person that I am today without her leadership.”

Horvath is staying in the area and will remain involved in the theatre community.
