Trent Klatt Steps Down As Grand Rapids Head Coach

Thunderhawks Bench Boss Retires To Persue Degree

Grand Rapids, Minn- After two season at the helm of their varsity hockey program, Head Coach Trent Klatt has decided to step down to pursue a degree. Katt and the Thunderhawks finished with a final record of 23-7-1 and became Class AA Boy’s Hockey State Champions for the first time since 1980. Klatt was also named the 2016-17 American Family Insurance All-USA Coach of the Year by USA Today.

“This also means that along with not coaching next year I am also canceling my summer hockey camp. I am headed to school immediately and will need to allocate personal time for studying. I know some may not like this decision, and to be honest it was difficult as the time here coaching was something special. I hold out hope that in the end everyone can at least understand why I made this decision.”
