Vista Building Temporary Platform Over Decaying Seawall

DULUTH, Minn. – The city of Duluth has begun installing a temporary loading platform for the Vista Fleet while the city deals with fixing the crumbling dock walls and areas around it behind the DECC.

The wooden platform will allow visitors to safely get on the Vista cruises, according to the city.

The problem comes from the aging timbers below that were installed in the 1800s.

The timbers are deteriorating and causing sinkholes and concrete to shift.

The city of Duluth stresses the boat launch location is safe.

Meanwhile, the city is working to secure $10 to $12 million dollars in state and federal port grants to help reconstruct the sea walls.
