Free Youth Memberships Given Out at Duluth YMCA
One-Hundred Free Summer Youth Memberships at the Duluth Area Family YMCA
DULUTH, Minn. – Many youth in the Northland now have big plans for the summer all thanks to a generous donation from Western Bank.
The Duluth YMCA is now able to give away 100 youth memberships this summer.
Staff at the Duluth Area Family YMCA say this is the first time they’ve been able to do this.
The YMCA and Western Bank are partnering together, looking to combat weight gain by giving our youth a safe place to go and be active during the summer months.
Memberships will be valid from Friday, June 9 until September 2 when school starts back up.
“We’re hoping they fall in love with the “Y,” fall in love with being active, being out in the community, participating. Maybe learning about volunteer opportunities,” said Marianne Morton, Member Experience Director at the YMCA.
The free memberships will be on a first come, first serve basis.
To get one of the free memberships, the youth must be entering 8th-12th grade in the coming school year, have a state or school issued photo ID, have not been a member since 2016, and both the youth and a parent or guardian must come to the Downtown YMCA to sign up for the membership.
