Local Governments Get MnDOT Grant Information
Roughly $22 Million is Available Through the DOT and DEED
DULUTH, Minn. – Representatives from Northland city and county governments were in Duluth Wednesday, to find out how they can get some of the more than $22 million in grant money the Minnesota Department of Transportation and the Department of Employment and Economic Development are handing out this year.
This money is awarded every two years through the state’s Transportation Development Program.
MnDOT and DEED officials are soliciting applications across the state. Any community is eligible as long as the project meets a set of criteria.
“What we’re asking applicants to do is show us that businesses want to locate in this project area,” said Kenneth Buckeye, Program Manager for MnDOT’s Department of Finance. “That they want to develop new facilities or expand existing facilities to create jobs.”
The deadline for those applications is September 15th.
