Tourism Season Kicks Off in Bayfield

Area Is Expected to Be Busy Through Applefest Weekend in October

BAYFIELD, Wis. – Summer tourism is starting to take off along Lake Superior’s south shore.

Every summer around the Fourth of July, tourism season kicks off in Bayfield and the surrounding area.

Hundreds of visitors are hitting the water in Apostle Islands cruises and kayaking to sea caves on Lake Superior.

As the summer continues, more visitors will start to tour the sixteen orchards, berry farms, and plantations Bayfield has to offer.

While the weather stays hot, the streets of the small town are expected to stay full.

“Tourism is very important to Bayfield,” says Kelley Linehan, Marketing and Events Manager at the Bayfield Chamber and Visitor Bureau. “A lot of our businesses are kind of built around that. It’s important to the community economically and I think also mentally and emotionally.”

Through Applefest in early October, Bayfield is expected to stay crowded.

This weekend, visitors to the area can check out the film series on Madeline Island.
