Man Arrested in Connection to Submerged SUV

Vehicle was Part of Shipment Bound for North Dakota

SUPERIOR, Wis. – A Kentucky man was arrested in connection to an SUV found in Superior Bay Friday.

38 year old Anthony Bowles of Louisville was arrested Caledonia, Wis. for Obstruction.

According to the Douglas Co. Sheriff, Bowles dumped a GMC Yukon bound for a dealership in North Dakota, in the water near Conner’s Point.

Bowles and another man were transporting a trailer of cars from Michigan to North Dakota, when Bowles hit a bridge, damaging the Yukon.

After a stop in Shakopee, Bowles told the other driver, Jason Porter, the damaged SUV needed to be taken to Duluth.  Bowles then told Porter he’d take care of it, and to pick him up later.

Fishermen found the SUV early Friday morning.

Bowles is in the Racine Co. Jail pending transfer to Douglas Co.
