Lumberjack World Championships Gets Underway in Hayward
Lumberjack athletes hack through the competition
HAYWARD, Wisc. – The Lumberjack World Championships kicked off in Hayward on Thursday. Around 130 lumberjack athletes competed in several different logging–based challenges, complete with chopping, sawing, climbing and logrolling.
“You do get a little bit of adrenaline going,” competitor Stirling Hart said. “That adrenaline only gets enhanced the more people that are out there cheering us on, so we want everybody to come out. You’re going to some of the best athletes in this sport in the entire world, right down here at the Lumberjack Bowl.”
The lumberjack action continues on Friday and Saturday in Hayward.
