Hillside Youth Theatre Program is Putting on Their Play

Kids Learned All Aspects of Theatre During the 6 Week Long Camp

DULUTH, Minn.- Students in the Hillside Youth Theatre Program are putting on a play at Myers Wilkins Elementary School.

The program is six week long camp that aims to teach students about all things theatre, including being in the play, understanding the storyline, what goes on behind the scenes, and building sets. Organizers hope giving the students different responsibilities helps make the program accessible for all students, even ones who are too shy to be on stage themselves. The program is so popular that some students come back year after year.

“This year two of our staff who are with are were kids who participated in theatre camp, were volunteers, and now are staff with us,” said Jennifer Eddy, the Executive Director of the Theatre Program.

This year’s play is called “All You Need Is Bugs”, and was written by local playwrights Jean Sramek and Margi Preus.
