Duluth Named Least Stressed City in America

DULUTH, Minn. – Duluth has been named the Least Stressed City in America by smartasset.com.

Smartasset analyzed data for 512 cities in the country. Nine factors were considered when analyzing the cities including, average work week, average commute times, percent of residents getting sufficient physical exercise, density of entertainment establishment, unemployment rate, bankruptcy rate, housing costs as a percent of income, average amount of sleep, and divorce rates.

Each city was ranked on each metric then the city’s average was calculated. From there the average ranking was used to create the final score.

Duluth took the top spot this year after coming in third in 2016.

Highlights of Duluth included short work weeks at 35 hours and sleeping around 7.2 hours per night, close to the recommended eight hours per night.

Following Duluth included Madison, Wisconsin; Iowa City, Iowa; Boulder, Colorado; and Santa Fe, New Mexico.
