66-Year-Old Man Dies After Being Ejected from Boat

The 66-Year-Old Male was Pronounced Dead at the Scene on Lake Kabetogama

KABETOGAMA, Minn. – A 66-year-old male is dead following a water emergency on Lake Kabetogama Wednesday evening.

Shortly before 5:00 p.m., the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Park Point Resort at 10498 Waltz Road in Kabetogama, Minnesota.

Officials received a call that a male, 66-year-old Wlodzimierz Dziechciowski of Chicago, Illinois, had fallen out of a boat and was unconscious in the water.

The boat operator, 55-year-old Stanislaw Kozaczka of Harwood Heights, Illinois, along with a passerby were able to pull Dziechciowski back into the boat. They then transported the man back to Park Point Resort.

Medical help responded to the scene and provided life-saving efforts, but Dziechciowski was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kozaczka reports their boat struck another boats wake, ejecting Dziechciowski from the boat.

The official cause of death is being investigated by the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office in Anoka.

The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Kabetogama Fire & First Responders, International Falls Ambulance, Life Link air medical, St. Louis County Rescue Squad, Minnesota DNR and Voyageur National Park Service.
