Northland Clinics to Start Offering Flu Vaccinations

St. Luke's Primary Care Clinics will Offer Flu Shots Starting in Early October

DULUTH, Minn. – Flu shot season is fast approaching and physicians at St. Luke’s in Duluth are reminding folks about an easy way to reduce your risk.

The flu vaccine will soon be offered at all St. Luke’s primary care clinics in the Northland come early October.

Medical experts say it’s important to wash your hands, but the vaccine can be up to 60 percent effective when it comes to avoiding the flu.

Officials recommend everyone over the age of six months get the vaccination.

Although it’s difficult to predict how severe the season will be, experts believe many people could be at risk.

“Many of us are concerned this year because the southern hemisphere has had a rough flu season, especially in Australia they’ve had a lot of cases and they’re just finishing their winter,” said Dr. Andrew Thompson with St. Luke’s Infectious Disease Associates.

Flu shots are covered by almost all insurance plans and Medicare.
