A Duluth church congregation made a vote Sunday on a topic that has created some controversy nationwide.
They will become the first ‘Sanctuary’ church in the Northland.
The Peace United Church of Christ, a Christian church in Duluth says they voted “overwhelmingly” to become an immigrant welcoming and sanctuary congregation.
That means they will offer shelter and support to immigrants facing immediate deportation.
Staff at the church told FOX 21 the vote means they’re making a commitment to create adequate living quarters for an individual or small family in that situation.
