Breast Cancer Imaging Conference Held in Duluth

Lectures Teach Professionals About the Latest Breast Imaging Technology

DULUTH, Minn. – Breast cancer awareness month kicks off on October 1st and medical providers were in Duluth this weekend for the annual Breast Cancer Imaging Conference.

The conference teaches professionals about the newest breast imaging technology available. That new technology can detect breast cancer much earlier on than older machines.

“We don’t have a cure for breast cancer yet but finding it as early as possible will minimize the type of surgery and other treatment a woman needs and also make sure she’s cured of this disease,” said Stamatia Destounis, a radiologist at the conference.

Radiologists recommend that women get mammograms every year starting at age forty to detect cancer as soon as possible.
