Third Annual Walk for Wishes held at UMD

The event included a 5k run and a 2.5k walk to raise money for Make-A-Wish

DULUTH, Minn. – Some Northland families came together on Sunday to make wishes come true for local children. It was the 3rd Annual Walk for Wishes at Bagely Nature Center at UMD. Make–A–Wish Minnesota teamed up with UMD to put on the 5k run and 2.5k walk. The event raises money for children fighting illnesses, by granting them a wish of their choice.

“A wish is powerful,” Make-A-Wish Minnesota’s Abby Gregory said. “It can improve children’s health, and it brings families together, improves health outcomes. We hear doctors say all the time that a wish can be a turning point in a kid’s journey to health.”

Over 35 years, Make–A–Wish Minnesota has been able to grant more than 5,000 wishes.
