Coleraine Crash Leaves 2 Injured

COLERAINE, Minn. – The Minnesota State Patrol reports a crash took place on Highway 169 in Coleraine around 10:19 Wednesday morning.

According to the police report after initial investigation, a pickup driven by Timothy Dwyer, of Grand Rapids, was traveling eastbound on Highway 169 when a passenger vehicle, driven by Andrew Francisco, 36, of Deer River, was driving on the shoulder and entered the lane, striking the pickup.

The truck lost control and rolled into the median. The car also lost control and went into the right ditch and rolled over landing on its roof.

Crews arrived on scene to find Francisco was not belted and was pinned in the rear seat, which required extrication by the Fire Department. He was airlifted with life-threatening injuries to a hospital in Duluth. His condition is unknown at this time.

Dwyer was transported to a Grand Rapids hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A passenger of his was unharmed in this accident.

Alcohol was not a factor is this crash, according to state patrol.
