Cooking Connection: Recipe for Edible Blood
DULUTH, Minn. – Renegade Theater’s latest production is starting up, and the horror-themed play is sure to bring a fright.
Halloween decorations are starting to pop up at homes across the Northland and the theater is making something scary a little tasty.
“Flaming Guns of the Purple Sage” opens on Thursday, October 5th.
This show is a horror-western featuring comic violence.
Big 8, a feisty former rodeo competitor is facing foreclosure on the Wyoming ranch where she rehabilitates injured rodeo cowboys.
The arrival of a woman named Shedevil and a one-eyed Ukranian biker named Black Dog ushers in outrageous violence and horror.
The play runs October 5–7, 12–14, and 19–21.

For this production, they needed to come up with a recipe for blood that is completely edible, non-allergenic and washes out of clothes.
EDIBLE BLOOD RECIPE:
In a pot on medium-high mix:
- 2 cups of karo syrup
- 1/2 cup chocolate syrup
- 3/4 tablespoon of non-dairy creamer mixed with water
- 1/2 tablespoon of corn startch mixed with water
- When it gets to a boil, add 3/4 teaspoon of red food coloring and 1/8 teaspoon of yellow food coloring
