Superior Mayor Takes on Fourth Grader in Chess Match

Mayor Paine Defeats Fourth Grader in Chess Match

SUPERIOR, Wis. – A Superior fourth grader took his chess game to new heights today.

Maxwell Carey of Bryant Elementary recently won a chess tournament at the Superior Public Library, with the top prize being a match with Superior Mayor Jim Paine.

Today the battle commenced as Max looked to be on his “A” game.

“I’m more of a person figuring out as it goes, not plan out my whole game from the start,” he said.

Mayor Paine did not take the youngster lightly as he ended up winning the match.
