Unique Flute Player Visits Charter Schools
Students Learned About Native American History
DULUTH, Minn. – Students at the Edison Charter Schools got a special treat today as they got a unique look at Native American history.
Flute player Darren Thompson visited seventh and eighth graders and played a variety of songs for them with a Native American twist.
Educators at the schools said today’s performances will lead to future topics they educate their students on.
“It’s just an amazing experience,” said Dawn Lyons, the American Indian liaison for the school. “The kids are going to love it and we can build off what they learned today in future lessons.”
The flute player also spent time with the kids answering all sorts of questions about native history, and even signed a couple of autographs.
