Senior Volunteers Honored Today

Helping Senior Helps the Community Save Money for a Variety of Reasons

DULUTH, Minn.-Volunteers who help seniors throughout the community were recognized for all the work they do earlier today at luncheon at the Kitchi Gammi Club.

Volunteer leaders told us that it’s shocking just how much help seniors get here.

“The work they do helps seniors in their home, helps them keep independent, helps them have really wonderful relationships, and it ends up saving our city a lot of money,” said Sarah Garramone, the program coordinator for Senior Corps.

Organizers of the local Senior Core said the volunteers help get seniors to doctors’ appointments, which saves trips to the emergency room which saves money for the community.
