Community Memorial Hospital in Cloquet unveils new clinic

The Advanced Wound Clinic treats patients with wounds that won't heal

CLOQUET, Minn. – The Community Memorial Hospital is celebrating new ways to help patients. The Advanced Wound Clinic opened in September, and on Thursday, it hosted an open house for the community. The clinic specializes in treating patients with wounds that are not healing or responding to traditional treatment. Clinic officials say it’s important to have facilities like this in communities outside the Twin Ports.

“We had a patient who’s been struggling with his wounds for two years, could not drive to Duluth and had not been seeking treatment until we opened,” clinical program director Bree Mattson said. “He was able to come here and seek the treatment that we’re offering. It really is a big deal to provide access.”

The clinic also features hyperbaric oxygen chambers, making it one of only two facilities north of the Twin Cities to have such equipment.
