City of Superior Announces ‘Name That Park Contest’
Winner receives a $100 gift card!
SUPERIOR, Wis. – Mayor Jim Paine and 8th District Councilor Craig Sutherland announced the City of Superior’s “Name That Park Contest” on Wednesday.
Residents of Superior are invited to enter the contest to rename the North 18th Street and Oakes Avenue Play Area.
“I think it’s a great idea to get the community involved. Give it a name that can last forever. [Get] the community more involved on the city politics aspect of it and let them know we want their opinion on a lot of things,” said Sutherland.
“Absolutely and parks are community spaces. The places where children and families can come together to share one spot and make a whole neighborhood better,” said Mayor Paine.
Name suggestions should be one to three word names, the City asks that they be concise and distinctive from a regional standpoint and must not infringe on any trademarks or licensed products. The Official Naming Policy is available at www.ci.superior.wi.us/namethatpark.
Entries will be accepted through Dec. 15, 2017 and must be submitted by mail, email, or in-person on an official entry form. Forms are available at the Government Center 2nd Floor, Superior Public Library, and Super One Foods on Banks Avenue, or online at the link above.
Contestants must be residents of Superior and can be of any age. City employees, City Council Members, and their immediate family members are ineligible. Mayor Paine, Councilor Sutherland, and Parks Director Linda Cadotte will chose the top 5 names and the public will have the opportunity to vote on the final name through January.
The winner will receive a $100 gift card to Super One!
