Kayak Bay Village Open for Public Comment
Investors proposing development near Spirit Mountain.
DULUTH, Minn.- Next year investors are hoping to build hotels and restaurants near Spirit Mountain.
The proposed development is Kayak Bay Village, which aims to create a sense of space for the base of Spirit Mountain. Kayak Bay Village would support multiple trails in the area, along with other accommodations the city is missing.
“Duluth is already pretty full in the summer time with tourists coming to stay on the canal and what not,” investor Scott Neustel said. “But out at Spirit Mountain this is the active tourists. People looking to ride a bicycle, people looking to ski, people looking to paddle on the Saint Louis River.”
Around $50,000 are invested in the project. Right now the city is accepting public comments on an environmental assessment worksheet.
