Duluth Police Department Offers Halloween Safety Tips

Reflective Tape and Bright Costumes are Recommended by Police

DULUTH, Minn. – Halloween is all about fun as kids head out to trick or treat, but there are safety concerns surrounding the tradition.

Sgt. Gayle Holton with the Duluth Police Department visited FOX 21 this morning to shed some light on the topic.

Sgt. Holton says kids should be wearing bright costumes and if they’re not, they should wear reflective tape on them when it gets dark outside.

Children should always be in groups and cross streets at crosswalks.

Police recommend children 12 and under to be accompanied by an adult.

Trick-or-treaters aren’t the only people that need to be aware tonight.

Drivers should also be aware to keep their eyes out for the many more kids that will be out and about tonight.
