Northlanders Attend the Gales of November Convention
The Gales of November convention is the largest fundraiser for the Maritime Museum.
DULUTH, Minn.-The 30th Gales of November convention took place this weekend at the DECC.
The event is the largest fundraiser for the Lake Superior Maritime Museum Association.
The association said it’s all thanks to community members.
“Everywhere I look there’s somebody lending a hand, offering to donate something, to give back in some way,” executive director Tammy Sundbom Otterson said. “It’s an amazing community. They are so invested in ensuring this maritime heritage is persevered and not forgotten, so that generations to come can enjoy it.”
The event gives Northlanders an opportunity to speak with many vendors, who provide information and history of Lake Superior. Money for the association is raised through a silent auction. Two lucky on-goers went home with tickets for “The Cruise of A Lifetime” donated by Central Marine Logistics.
