Health officials say it's important to talk about mental health
DULUTH, Minn. – With Veteran’s Day coming up this week, some groups are having discussions surrounding mental health. A presentation was held a the Duluth Public Library discussing Post-traumatic Stress Disorder in veteran’s. Organizers say it is important for people to talk about mental health, and understand that help is out there.
“Mental illness is still a stigma, unfortunately, so one of the best things to do is start talking,” presenter Pat Michals said. “We need to understand that mental illness is a disease, not bad character, bad parenting, and that there is help.”
Health officials suggest veterans reach out to mental health professionals at their local Veteran’s Affairs clinics.
