Marine General Helping Provide Bikes For Kids With Fried Turkeys

The turkey flavors were: creole garlic, creole butter, lemon butter pepper and barbecue mesquite.

DULUTH, Minn. – The folks over at Marine General in Duluth were up at 5:30 a.m. dropping 60 turkeys in the fryer for their annual Turkey Fry.

In it’s 18th year, Marine General partnered up with Bob’s Bike Drive to raise money and donate Huffy bikes to kids in the Northland.

“It’s just one of those things getting kids outside, getting them active, getting some of the people that can’t maybe afford the newer bikes something and just trying to make a kid’s life brighter,” said Marine General’s Rob Hering.

You could feast on different varieties of turkeys all for free, but donations are welcome.

Marine General has 400 bikes to distribute this year.

“We’re donating these bikes to not just the Twin Ports area, but Cloquet, Ashland and Hibbing,” said Hering. “We’re trying to make a difference all around here instead of just right here too.”

Several local businesses helped out by assembling the bikes and providing the helmets, including London Road Car Wash, Duluth Dodge and Miller Hill Subaru.
