Highland String Quartet Performs At United Protestant Church

United Protestant Church has been around since Morgan Park was built

DULUTH, Minn. -The pews at the United Protestant Church were filled for a joyful performance.

Bill Bastian and the Highland String Quartet set the tone at the annual concert.

The church is celebrating 100 years and Chester Johnson has been a member for about 80.

He says the concert a tradition that the people appreciate.

“We like to be prominent in the community and carry on that spirit because in the old days, you know, when Morgan Park was a company town the church was more of the center of the community than it already is today,” said Johnson. “So we just kind of like to carry that on.”

Park State Bank use to put on the concert and once they closed down United Protestant Church took over.
