Downtown Duluth May Have Another Million Dollar Housing Project

CityView Flats would be a three to four story building.

DULUTH, Minn. – A new housing development is in the works in Central Hillside.

This Monday council members will decide whether to approve an $800,000 grant to support the development.

The proposed $20 million project would be located at 1st Avenue West and 4th Street.

Right now most of the property is a parking lot, but it could be the future site of a 96 unit apartment complex complete with underground parking.

“If indeed we’re successful in receiving this grant and then construction would begin in this spring. I wanted to point out that again, we’re in downtown Duluth just a block away from Lake Avenue,” said Business & Workforce Development Director Heather Rand.  “So we know they’re plenty of workers that work in this immediate area that would love to live in housing like this.

Rent for these units would range between $800 and $1,800 per month.
