Afternoon Stabbing Sends one to the Hospital

Suspect Has Now Been Taken into Custody

CLOQUET, Minn. – Cloquet police officers responded to a stabbing this afternoon that occurred at the Washington Avenue Laundromat.

Officers located an adult male bleeding from his torso and abdomen areas.

The victim was transported to a local hospital and later transported to a hospital in Duluth.

The injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Officers have identified the suspect as 25-year-old Stephen James Smith. The Cloquet Police Department is actively searching for Smith and asks anyone knowing Smith’s whereabouts to contact the police department with information.

The Cloquet Police Department does not believe this was a random act of violence and does not believe the public is in any danger at this time.
