One Injured, One Killed in Cloquet Fire

The Fire Remains Under Investigation

CLOQUET, Minn. – According to the Cloquet Fire Department a Saturday morning fire resulted in the death of one occupant and non-life threatening injuries to another.

The Cloquet Fire Department responded to a fire at 248 Tyler Drive in Cloquet around 2:00 am Saturday morning.

One of the occupants was able to escape the home and another was found unresponsive in a main floor bedroom.

The unresponsive victim was later identified as 23-year-old Preston Jerald Alaspa, who was pronounced dead on the scene.

According to the Cloquet Fire Department there were no working smoke alarms in the home.

The fire remains under investigation to determine the cause of the fire, however law enforcement does not suspect foul play.
