Noah Potratz to Represent UWS at Nationals

The senior will compete in the javelin throw this Friday at the D3 national championships.

SUPERIOR, Wis. – Senior trackster Noah Potratz (Ripon, Wis./Ripon) will represent the University of Wisconsin-Superior at the NCAA Division III National Championships in javelin throw this week, May 23-26 at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

Potratz had a record-breaking season, beating the school record on his first throw of the season at the Dingles Brueggen Open at St. Mary’s University March 29 with 54.79 (179-9) meters. He then broke his own record with 57.83 meters (189-9) at the UMAC Championships May 4-5.

His best throw of the season came just under a week ago at the North Central College Gregory Final Qualifier where the senior broke both the new scoring and old scoring records with 59.96, placing his among the Top-20 in the nation, and securing his spot on the National stage.

Potratz is the first Yellowjacket male athlete to qualify for Nationals since Charles Corbett went in the 2016 in the 10,000-meter; Potratz is also the first male field-athlete since Thomas Undenberg qualified for shot put back in 2015 and 2016.

The senior is set to make his throws Friday, May 24 at 11 a.m.
