Duluth City Council President to Step Down
Elissa Hansen Made the Announcement at Tuesday's Council Meeting
DULUTH, Minn. – There’s going to be a changeup at the Duluth City Council as the current President, Elissa Hansen, announced she’ll be stepping down next month.
Hansen became emotional when breaking the news at the end of the council meeting Tuesday night.
She said she was offered and accepted the position of President and CEO of The Northspan Group.
Hansen went on to say she’s excited about her new role and grateful for the city’s confidence and trust in her on the council.
She will officially be stepping down as council President on June 11 and will be leaving the council entirely on July 17.
Current city councilors will appoint someone to take her place until the election in November.
