June Marks Elder Abuse Awareness Month

SUPERIOR, Wis. – June marks Elder Abuse Awareness Month and a Twin Ports Task Force dedicated to the topic is hoping to get more of the public involved in stopping it.

Today, Monday, June 4, a Mayoral Proclamation, featuring both Superior Mayor Jim Paines and Duluth Mayor Emily Larson took place in the Northwest Community Services Agency Senior Center at 10 a.m.

Throughout the month of June, several other activities will be taking place to educate the public on this topic.

There will be a community forum on Thursday, June 14th, from 5:00 -7:30 p.m. at Swenson Hall on the UW-Superior campus. The event is free with pre-registration by June 8th. Register at uwsuper.edu/cce-events or call 715-394-8469.

There will also be information sessions at local senior centers in Duluth throughout the month of June:

  • June 13th at Morgan Park Senior Center, 1242 88th Ave. W., 11:30 a.m.
  • June 21st at Evergreen Senior Center, 5830 Grand Ave., 11:30 a.m.
  • June 29th at Portman Senior Center, 4601 McCulloch St., 11:30 a.m.
