Irvin 5K Finish/Start Line To Be Slightly Narrowed During Seawall Work

DULUTH, Minn.- Meanwhile the William A. Irvin’s course will be slightly narrowed near the start and finish line this year.

That’s because of the delayed seawall reconstruction project in the Minnesota Slip, which is home to the Irvin and where runners will race by on Harbor Drive.

Marathon officials are encouraging spectators to check the site out in advance before race day, June 15th.

Meanwhile, the city of Duluth will be closing Harbor Drive starting Thursday until June 12th for a crane to move in to work on the seawall.

The city says equipment will be demobilized in time for marathon weekend.

The seawall reconstruction is expected to now be wrapped up, not in Aug., but rather by fall.
