Claudia Chakamian

Claudia Chakamian joined the FOX 21 team in July and is currently the weekend sports anchor and sports reporter. She’s a New Jersey native and proud University of South Carolina alumna (go Gamecocks!). Although she loved her time at USC, she’s very excited to be living in a place again that experiences winter.

Claudia worked in student media throughout her entire four years at USC, serving as the television station’s executive sports producer and newspaper’s sports editor at different times. Those experiences led her to the sidelines of different SEC and ACC football stadiums and multiple NCAA Tournaments including the 2016 Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight at Madison Square Garden. She was also able to interview current professional athletes and witness school history on different scales.

She also interned with the Cape Cod Baseball League, serving as the sideline reporter for the Wareham Gatemen, a collegiate summer league baseball team. She also spent a semester interning with Ryan Seacrest Studios at Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte, hosting her own radio show that was broadcasted directly to the patients being treated at the hospital.

When she’s not at work, Claudia enjoys shopping, watching even more sports and going to her kickboxing classes. And regardless of if she’s on the clock or off, Claudia always has a cup of coffee and will try to pet any dog she sees.

Claudia’s passion for sports journalism comes from a young age and goes far beyond the box score; she is excited to tell the stories of what make the athletes, coaches and programs here unique and special. Claudia is excited to call Duluth home and meet all of the wonderful people here! If you see her, feel free to say hi, or connect with her on Facebook or Twitter.
