DFL Files Lawsuit Against St. Louis County Over Stauber Emails

Stauber has Been Accused of Violating County Policy

DULUTH, Minn. – The Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party filed a lawsuit against St. Louis County Tuesday morning for the release of emails between Eighth Congressional District candidate Pete Stauber and the National Republican Campaign Committee.

Pete Stauber has been accused of violating a county policy by emailing a GOP group using his government email address.

This suit comes on the heels of the ruling by the MN DOA last week that the emails are public and St. Louis County acted improperly by refusing a request by The Star Tribune to release them.

“The public has the right to know what is in the emails Pete Stauber sent from his taxpayer funded county email account while he was on county time,” said DFL Executive Director Corey Day. “Transparency and accountability are vital in maintaining trust in government and in our public officials, and thus far, Pete Stauber has fallen far short on both counts.”
