DULUTH, Minn. — It’s finally election day and Minnesotans wasted no time in hitting the polls early! The Secretary of State says more than 600,000 ballots have already been cast in Minnesota through the absentee process, putting Minnesota on pace to have the highest voter participation rate in the country. But that didn’t stop many Northlanders’ from voting the old fashioned way as many of them rushed to the polls that opened up at 7 a.m. forming lines at many polling places throughout the area.

Janet Nelson the Election Judge at the Copper Top Church in Duluth says, “It’s been going pretty good, consistently. We had a lineup of 50 people to start with. Which is even higher than any of us can recall, having a line. I¬†would say we are probably right at par with the Presidential election, I would say, voter turnout wise.”

The polls are open until 8 p.m. and as long as you are in line by then, you will be able to cast your vote.
