Saints Basketball Comes Up Short to Cougars in Double Header

Both the men's and women's St. Scholastica basketball teams were unable to get a win over Minnesota Morris.

DULUTH, Minn.- The St. Scholastica women’s team kicked off Sunday’s double header against Minnesota Morris resulting in a 61-41 loss for the Saints. The Cougars scored in the first 15 seconds to set the tone for the entire game. Senior guard Michala Walther lead in scoring with a total of 12 points. The Saints fall to 1-7 on the season and take a break until December 29 when they participate in the Wisconsin-Superior Shootout Holiday Classic.

The men’s teams took to the court soon after where CSS would again fall to Minnesota Morris 75-69. The Saints took the lead briefly in the second half but they were overpowered by the Cougars. Esko native Quinn Fischer lead in scoring with 16 points. The Saints now 4-5 on the season will play again on Friday December 28¬†for the Nicolet National Bank Holiday Tournament in De Pere, Wisconsin.
