Cruise Ships Postpone This Year’s Duluth Visit

The change comes with the American Steamboat Co. recently acquiring the Victory Cruise Line in January.

DULUTH, Minn. – Two popular Great Lakes cruise lines will not be visiting Duluth this summer as scheduled.

The change comes with the American Steamboat Co. recently acquiring the Victory Cruise Line in January.

Due to January’s close proximity to the summer cruise season, the company decided to postpone the Lake Superior cruises so they could plan their own Superior itinerary.

For Visit Duluth, it gives them an opportunity to plan adequately to make the visiting cruise ship experience even better.

“The logistics were still in the planning stages. So if anything, this still just gives us more time as a destination to really prepare for the future,” said Anna Transki, president and CEO of Visit Duluth.

Even though cruise ships will not be visiting this summer, there’s still a boatload of activities including the Festival of Sail, formerly known as Tall Ships, also happening this summer.
