Painter Captures the Effect of the Lake on Duluth

Effete Du Lac Exhibit on at the Depot.

DULUTH, Minn.- Duluth was on display at the Depot with the St. Louis County Heritage and Arts Center’s new exhibit: “Effete Du Lac.”

The title means “Lake Effect” in French.

The artist, John Micheal Cook said he spent time around the city drawing and painting over 60 images that stuck out to him, or building on those images based on how they made him feel.

“It’s a city beside a lake, it’s not a lake beside a city,” Cook said.

“A lot of art is about just doing that: is finding and matching the feelings and responding to it, taking the time to go slow enough to see it, and working fast enough to say something about it.”

The exhibit will be on display at the Depot until June 9th.
