Love Creamery Looking for New ‘Champ’ UMD Flavor

30 submissions already received for new flavor ideas.

DULUTH, Minn.- I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream, and soon we could all be screaming for a UMD-inspired flavor of the cold treat from Love Creamery.

The West Duluth ice cream shoppe is asking the community to help them come up with a new “Champ” flavor of ice cream.

You can submit your idea online here or in person until October 20th.

Submissions require specific ingredients you’d use, and an explanation why the flavor fits UMD and Duluth.

“The one thing about ice cream is that it’s so fun to create new flavors it’s a really super super creative process so by opening it up to the community to develop the champ flavor, y’know they have to really think about it from a meaningful standpoint,” said Nicole Wilde, owner of Love Creamery.

They’ll make the new ice cream concoctions in house, then sample them at 8 UMD Volleyball and 2 UMD Football games to get feedback from spectators.

Throughout the weeks of games, the flavors will be sampled in a bracket format: the winning flavor at one game will proceed to the next to battle a new flavor, and so on.

The ultimate winning flavor will be announced at the volleyball game on November 9th. The winner gets a $300 cash prize.

23% of the proceeds from the new flavor will go to UMD Athletics.
