Fond du Lac Shooting Suspect Formally Charged
CLOQUET, Minn. – The 28-year-old Minneapolis man arrested for shooting another man in the head during a funeral on the Fond du Lac reservation last week has been formally charged.
According to court records, Shelby Gene Boswell, has been charged with second degree assault with a dangerous weapon, fifth degree marijuana possession, felon convicted crime of violence firearm violation, first degree assault, third degree possession of heroin, and introduction of contraband into jail.
According to the criminal complaint, Officers from multiple agencies responded to a call of shots fired at the Fond du Lac Head Start building gymnasium on Friday where a funeral ceremony was being held.
When officers arrived on scene they learned that Boswell had entered the gymnasium with a rifle and had shot his sister’s boyfriend, 45-year-old Broderick Boshay Robinson, in the back of the head.
Family members and other funeral attendees were able to disarm Boswell and detain him until officers arrived on scene minutes later.
Boswell was arrested in the parking lot of the building and was found to be in possession of heroin and a small amount of methamphetamine.
Boswell’s next court appearance is scheduled for October 28. Bond has been set at $500,000.
